Lot 1546
Byzantine Weights, Circa 5th-7th centuries. Weight of 1 Semissis (Bronze, 13x14 mm, 2.19 g, 11 h), a square coin weight for a semissis made from a Constantinian follis. Laureate imperial head to right; N (sic!) engraved over the head. Rev. PROVIDEN-[TIAE AVGG] Campgate with no doors and two turrets; above, star. Very fine.

Although clearly intended to serve as a weight for a semissis, this curious piece carries the denomination mark 'N' for Nomisma on the obverse!
